Letter from Move Redmond Executive Director
by Kelli Refer
As the days grow dark and wet, I’ve been inspired by the rain drops falling into puddles and lakes. One small drop ripples across the surface, changing the texture and appearance of the water. The work of Move Redmond is like the little tiny raindrops, slowly shifting and changing the transportation landscape of Redmond.
This year Redmond saw big waves of change with the opening of the Downtown Redmond and Marymoor Village light rail stations, ribbon cuttings on the Redmond Central connector, and the arrival of Metro Flex in Overlake. These shifts were many years and many hands in the making. Our team contributed to the success of these events by hosting an incredible opening celebration for Downtown Redmond Station, activating the trail with group rides and promoting new transportation options to approximately 30,000 attendees.
Yet so much of our work is smaller, more subtle. It is the kind of change that happens as a new employee receives an ORCA card to help them get to work. It is opening up our Station Access Map and helping a person find which bus to take home. It is the kind of change we see when a person learns to ride a bicycle for the first time at the age of 43. It is the kind of change that our team at Move Redmond makes happen every single day.

Luckily, in this ecosystem of change, we are not the only raindrops. We have the joy of collaborating with so many changemakers to transform small ripples into big waves. We partner with our elected leaders, transit agencies, fellow non-profit organizations, and supporters like you to push for safer streets, reliable transportation options, and mobility that works for non-drivers. It is through this work that we build a sea change; where driving is not the default and our community has cleaner air and safe streets. Together we build this future. Together we make waves.
Warm regards,

Kelli Refer, Move Redmond Executive Director
