Light rail is coming to Downtown Redmond! Move Redmond is excited to host Trail 2 Transit presented by Sound Transit and in partnership with Eastrail Partners & Africans on the Eastside. Join us May 10th from 12:00pm-4pm along with Sound Transit, Eastrail Partners, Africans on the Eastside, and others to celebrate the Downtown Redmond light rail opening, a new critical connection into Downtown Redmond! During the day’s festivities, walk, bike or roll between Redmond light rail station and Redmond Central Connector to celebrate the opening of light rail with vendors, live entertainment, delicious food, and family friendly activities.
Excitement is in the air as this milestone will enhance access to school, work, and healthcare throughout the Eastside. Be part of the celebration and witness the city’s remarkable progress in transitioning from a suburban city to a transit-oriented hub.

We made a pocket sized map to help you connect to the 2 line light rail by walking, rolling, and transit. Our Station Access Map provides the information you need on transit routes, bike lanes, and walking paths within a mile radius of each light rail station on the 2 -Line. They also offer safety information, highlighting areas of caution, such a busy intersections, with turning vehicles, and identifying steep grades that may pose challenges for wheelchair users. These maps also include information on how to reload your ORCA card, use BikeLink Lockers, and schedule a community van ride! Say goodbye to parking stress and hello to hassle-free commuting!

Check out our newest trails 2 transit tote bag designed by our very own Communications & Community Engagement Manager, Maritza! We will be giving out some of these tote bags to the first 1,400 people who stop by our Move Redmond booth during our Trails 2 Transit event starting at noon! Our main stage entertainment is being presented by incredible partners, Africans on the Eastside, who have programmed a lineup you won’t want to miss! Look forward to vibrant performances, cultural celebrations, and captivating storytelling, and music from DJ Commander B Seattle!


Meet our Emcee: Dubia Denis
We are thrilled to announce that Denis Maronga, also known as Dubia Denis, will be emcee for our Trails 2 Transit event! Dubai Denis is a renowned Kenyan stand-up comedian and dynamic event host based in Seattle. With a distinguished career in comedy, Denis has earned acclaim for his award-winning stand-up specials, TV commercials, music, and short films, including a notable Netflix debut in 2022. He is also the creator of the engaging podcast, The Creative Hustle Podcast Show.

DJ Commander B
From the streets of The Gambia to dance floors, clubs, private parties then to the UK and the United States, DJ Commander B has been turning gatherings into unforgettable parties. “DJ-ing became my true passion, allowing me to connect with people through music. I have performed at events around the world, sharing my belief that music is life for me, it heals and brings people together. As DJ Commander B, I respect the diversity of music and appreciate the hard the work of artists everywhere.”

Locally based Fashion Designer Olayinka, originally from Nigeria, has been designing garments under her label, Ayo Collections since 2016. 8-Bit Brass Band is a cosplaying, mobile party band specializing in video game tunes, anime anthems, movie mashups, and fandom favorites. They are here to celebrate everyone’s inner nerd on the streets and stages of Redmond – and beyond!!

Sohoyini Dance Company
Awal Alhassan and Sohoyini Dance Company is a dance company based in Seattle, WA that offers a variety of dance classes, performances, and workshops. With a focus on traditional and contemporary African dance styles, Sohoyini Dance provides dance lessons and workshops for individuals who want to explore the authentic culture of West African music and dance.

School of Rock Bellevue House Band
School of Rock Bellevue returns! Our favorite youth-led rock band will take the stage again with electrifying performances and showcase some of the best young musical talent in the Eastside!
Planning to bike to the event?

Start off the Celebration with Eastrail Partners: Group Bike Rides
Join Eastrail Partners and experienced ride leaders for a group bike ride to our Redmond 2 Line Opening Celebration: Trails 2 Transit! Rides will depart from various locations throughout the regional trail system, all arriving in time for the festivities.
Enjoy some special treats and swag just for bikers at the Eastrail Partners booth after your ride. Check out Eastrail.org/Trails2Transit for more info, and keep an eye out as more rides are added over the next month.

Cascade Bicycles Bike Valet
Wondering where you can park your bike worry-free during the event? Cascade Bicycles has you covered, and will be providing secured bike valet parking from 12:00pm to 3:30pm.! To find the Valet Area, look for the green Cascade Tent along the Redmond Central Connector trail, just west of the station. You will be able to drop off your bikes starting at 12:00pm. Make sure you pick up your bikes by 3:30pm!
