Employees of Greater Redmond TMA member companies who participate in a commute trip reduction program (bus, bike, walk, carpool, or vanpool) and did not drive alone that day are eligible for the Emergency Ride Home benefit.
The benefit includes reimbursement for up to two rides per person per year. Employees covered by similar employer benefits are expected to exhaust their benefits through their employer before applying for reimbursement through Greater Redmond TMA. Exceptions will be considered on a case by case basis. The benefit is capped at $50.00 per incident.
An emergency is
- Illness: you or your rideshare partner becomes ill and must leave work.
- Family member illness: an immediate family member becomes ill and you must leave work to pick up or care for him or her.
- Unscheduled overtime: You learn that you must work unscheduled overtime on the same day on which the overtime occurs.
- Stranded: You become stranded at work by your regular vanpool or carpool.
- Bicycle emergency: You have an unrepairable flat tire, become injured, experience a mechanical problem, or your bike is stolen.
If you experience an emergency, arrange to a ride home with a taxi company, Uber, Lyft, or comparable service and request a receipt from the driver. The receipt must show fare paid, the driver’s name, and trip mileage. You will then need to complete the Greater Redmond TMA’s Emergency Ride Home Reimbursement Form and submit it, along with the receipt, within two weeks (10 business days) of returning to work.
Greater Redmond TMA will then verify your qualified emergency with your supervisor and issue a refund check within one month of receiving the request.
